Doodle for Darky--Naptime

Yet another brainchild of mine. This one is for ; and 'twas inspired by a roleplay between the two of us (it almost happened in said RP, too*) with Ahn (her lupe) Xeri (the xweetok she wants), as well as Ayame (my absol) and NiGHTS (because I couldn't resist)

*Okay, at one point in to RP, both NiGHTS and Xeri were pretty much out cold (Xeri for reasons 'unknown'; NiGHTS because it had basically had its energy drained) leaving poor Ahn and Ayame to try and cover it up until they come back around. (because, you can't just leave two people unconscious on the floor and have the two of them sitting there like guilty puppies). I was seriously trying to come up with a good reply, and almost had Ayame suggest just pushing the two of them up next to each other and convince any onlookers that it was just "naptime".
I ended up doing something else, but the idea still struck me as funny, so I drew it. 8D


This is one of two sketches I'm working on for her (she had requested a picture of Xeri--which I'm still working on--but I couldn't resist this one, either.)


I think what I love best about [drawing] NiGHTS--besides the fact that it's design is fun to draw (hooray for longer eyelashes)--is that it's just a fun character to work with. It's childlike personality gives me a chance to actually draw stuff like this (without worrying too much about [the subject] being totally out of character).
_{And because I know some jerkface will want to ask, NO, this is NOT a pairing! DX Jeez guys, one of them is genderless for crying out loud.}

I tell you this because, the actual idea (as in, the poses and stuff) for this was drawn directly from my own childhood memories. I grew up with two Boxer dogs for pretty much the first half of my life (They were 12 and 14 when they... had to go. I was 8.). And if there was one thing little-kid-me loved, it was using [either one of] them as a big warm pillow while they were lying down onthe floor. X3 I loved my boxers


So yeah, there's a BUTTLOAD of mistakes in this one, mostly because of the perspective I used (floors suck). And the shading isn't my best work, because I was half-asleep for most of it. (Lemme tell you: as much fun as they are to draw, shading ruffles is a pain in the )
And, the fact that I totally fail at xweetoks (I'm sorry Darky. *cry*) and making things glow. I fail at glowing-stuff. X_X

But I worked too hard on this to mope now, so there.
And, of course the little details (like Xeri's markings and the pattern on NiGHTS sleeves [which is a lot of fun to draw, actually]) are as accurate as I could make them. Because I'm a perfectionist, rememeber?

HOLY CRUD, GUYS, check it out! THERE'S AN ATTEMPT AT A BACKGROUND HERE! Of course it's fail, but I tried, okay? (BTW, the big white thing behind them is a rug. It's a long story, but it does hold a tiny ounce of signifigance in the RP, so I included it, okay?)


Okay, just minutes ago, I had finished coloring this. I couldn't sleep, and figured "heck, I'm already up, so why not see what all I can get done before I'm too tired?"
It's now done, it's four in the morning, and I STILL can't sleep. (and I'm posting it before absent-minded me forgets to, tomorrow). X_X I swear; I can ALMOST HEAR a Biritish-accented, androgyneous voiice scolding me for not going to bed.
I think I'll take its advice. *yawns*
